Stan Lee Foundation - Finalist Logo
Talenthouse, a design website that invites designers of all kind to participate in their contests, held one for the Stan Lee foundation. This foundation is a new project created by the comic mastermind Stan Lee, to help children in need around the US. The contest was based on the creation of the logo for his foundation; the rules were not to use any element present on his comics, including characters or names. With all this taken into consideration, I wanted to create a logo that represented Stan Lee as the mind behind the comic books, the man who used his influences to help others in need; kind of what his characters do, but in real life. This way, people would see another side of their icon. Since this is a influential foundation, I went for a serious and professional approach instead of a comic-related one. After a lot of researching and browsing, I concluded that his most recognizable features were his glasses, moustache and hair. I thought of building a silhouette that enhanced the presence of those elements in a very sleek, sophisticated way. The font I used was the Trajan pro, not only because it looks heavy, but also because it increases the sense of the foundation’s seriousness that I was trying to convey. In the end, my logo was on the 9 most voted during the competition and I ended up being in the top 20 the foundation chose.
